Essay 2 (Required):

What would you like your classmates and teammates at Hult to know about you? (400-600 words)

One thing I am proud of and would like my classmates and teammates to know is that I can connect and relate to people I don’t know, that I can be persuasive, and that I am a gutsy, hardworking and persistent person.

When I worked at Nomura Securities as a stockbroker in Japan, I often had to go out “cold”— without any introduction at all — and knock on people’s doors or approach company reception desks and try to persuade them to let me come in and tell them about our company. I sometimes did this as many as 100 times a day. You may be able to imagine how difficult and intimidating this was for me, but one year I opened 126 new accounts. That made me one of the top 5 salespeople in the company despite my relative inexperience.

I would like everyone to know me as a man of concentration. Once I determine to do something, I never give up and just concentrate on accomplishing my mission.

I would also like to tell them that if someone asks me a question and I don’t know the answer, I am honest and say that I don’t know. But I will know how to find the answer, and I will find it.

When someone needs help, I am eager to give it. People like me for this, and often help me when I need it, too.

I love athletics — baseball in particular, and have been in triathlons in Japan three times. My dream is to join Ironman races all over the world. As my hands are bigger than anyone else, I joined handball team in Keio University, and played an active role as a goalkeeper. Also, I have a black belt in judo. I like building my body and training myself to the limit. I would love to find training partners in my class to go to the gym with.

As to my family members, I have three sisters and have been loved by everyone because I am the only boy in my family. They call me “prince”, and treat me kindly. I love my family, and just want them to be happy. This is my greatest motivation to live.

I hope to show everyone that I love diversity, always want to help, relate well to different kinds of people, and have the nerve to approach anyone when others may not. I’d like to be the life and soul of my team and my class.
